Restube lifeguard is the buoyancy agent of choice for operations in the North Sea

With the start of the 2022 bathing season, the island of Sylt equipped itself optimally for water rescue operations. A total of 32 watchtowers were equipped with Restube lifeguard - contained in Restube Case Set 2. The lifeguards wear the buoyancy aid, which is conveniently stowed in the case, during their daily work in order to be able to react in the best possible way during rescue operations and various scenarios.

Restube lifeguard was developed together with SLRG and DLRG lifeguards. Stowed in the bag on the belt or attached directly to your own equipment, it is immediately ready for use. Due to its compact and robust nature, it is in no way a nuisance when swimming or diving to the casualty. The rescuer has both hands free and can concentrate completely on the situation. The 80cm long bendable Restube lifeguard buoy inflates in seconds with just one pull of the release button and provides 75N of buoyancy to secure people of any stature. The system is often used as a supplement to existing harness rescuers or rescue buoys. This way, the rescuer has additional buoyancy at hand at all times.

Swimming in the North Sea can be dangerous. It is primarily the high waves and the undercurrents that lead to accidents time and again. Terra Xpress ' "Fascination North Sea - With the Sea Rescuers in Action" on ZDF shows how dangerous the North Sea can be and how the sea rescuers from Cuxhaven are constantly on duty to ensure safety. One thing is certain: every attempt to rescue an injured person also involves danger, even for experienced lifeguards. In a dramatic operation in August 2021, a rescuer lost his life in Wennigstedt.

The island of Sylt Tourismus-Service GmbH has initiated the equipping of the 32 watchtowers with the Restube Case Set 2 in Westerland, Rantum, Hörnum, List and Wenningstedt. Personnel Manager Steffen Jahrmarkt says:

"We want the greatest possible safety - for our guests and our lifeguards. We have high demands on the skills of the rescuers and also on the rescue equipment that is used. With Restube lifeguard, we have found a product that meets our high standards."

Restube Case Set 2

Two Restube lifeguards are included in Case Set 2, including interchangeable components for up to 12 additional releases. Restube lifeguard is ideally suited for water and current rescue. With the Case Set 2, watchtowers, rescue stations as well as emergency and water vehicles are optimally equipped for deployment. An overview of all emergency cases for authorities and organizations with security tasks can be found here.

Preventing Drowning: The Drowning Chain Of Survival

Anyone interested in the topic of water safety, whether professionally or privately, should familiarize themselves with the "Drowning Chain Of Survival" . An international research team has formulated a clearly understandable guide for measures against drowning that can be applied to any scenario. Restube has continued to evolve based on this scientific foundation. This is how it became the most versatile water safety system.
